14th Annual Conference

On behalf of the International Society for the Study of Drug Policy (ISSDP), we would like to announce that our 14th Annual Conference, hosted by the Drug Policy Program of the Center for Research and Teaching in Economics (CIDE), will be held in Aguascalientes, Mexico, from May 20th through May 22nd, 2020. This annual event is of interest to academics in the field of drug policy, as well as policymakers and decision-makers interested in drugs and drug policy.

The ISSDP is working in partnership with the IJDP, the official journal partner of the 14th annual conference. The 14th ISSDP Scientific Committee looks forward to receiving proposals in response to its call and will be more than happy to respond to inquiries from interested parties.

Call for abstracts

The ISSDP Scientific Committee invites all researchers and/or practitioners contributing to the study, assessment or evolution of drug policy, whether it be locally, nationally or internationally, to submit abstracts and/or panel proposals for the event. We welcome papers on all aspects of drug policy analysis and from a wide array of disciplines. This year, we hope to encourage submissions on the following topics:

1.- Epidemiology and modeling of drug use and problematic drug use
2.- New psychoactive drugs
3.- Drug supply, with an interest in encrypted markets
4.- New theoretical and methodological approaches to drug dependence and treatment
5.- Harm reduction interventions on communities affected by the war on drugs with interest on experiences of farmers/producers
6.- Law enforcement practices accountability and control mechanism with an interest on marginalized populations and people who use drugs
7.- Law enforcement accountability or control mechanism
8.- Drug regulation, policy models, evaluation and methodology
9.- Human Rights and gender perspectives on drug policy and harm reduction
10.- Drug policy in Latin America and the Caribbean
11.- Others

Milestones

Timely submission of abstracts/papers is critical to the success of the conference.

  • May 20th-22nd

    ISSDP 2020

    During these days we will have three keynote speakers, different panels, poster presentations and workshops.

    *Remember you may attend the ISSDP 2020 even if you are not presenting a paper.

  • January 10th

    Deadline for Proposals

    By January 10th, 2020 at midnight (CST) authors should submit a 200- to 400-word proposal for their paper. The word count does not include the title or the topic(s) to be addressed.

  • February 21st

    Acceptance of Proposals

    All abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee.

  • April 10th

    Submission of Written Papers

    All authors are encouraged to submit the complete full written paper with a 200-word abstract.

  • February 21st, May 8th

    Registration

    Early bird registration will start on February 21st, 2020 and will close on March 21st, 2020 at midnight (CST). Regular registration will be open until May 8th, 2020 at midnight (CST).

  • BEFORE THE CONFERENCE

    Presenting the Paper

    Presentation slots are around 15 minutes long. A written version of the paper will be provided to participants only via the 14th ISSDP Conference website before the conference.
